Edward E. Cohen is an award winning American entrepreneur, business leader, author, and philanthropist. Dr. Cohen has been head of the Atlas group of energy companies from its formation in 2000. He held a number of titles at the general partner of Atlas Energy, L.P. at various points from its organization in 2006 until February 2015, including serving as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, President, and member of the executive committee. He also held a number of titles at the general partner of Atlas Pipeline Partners, L.P. from when it was formed in 1999 until February 2015. Currently, Dr. Cohen serves as the Executive Chairman of Titan Energy and as a Director of Falcon Minerals Corp. In 2011, he was honored with the prestigious Hart Publications’ award as the year’s Outstanding Oil and Gas Executive in North America. Dr. Cohen also served as Chairman of the Board of Resources America, Inc. from 1990 until September 2016. He was its CEO from 1998 until 2004 and President from 2000 until 2003. Dr. Cohen served as Chairman of the Board of Resource Capital Corporation since it was founded in September 2005 until November 2009 and served on its board until September 2016. He has also held the role of Chairman of Brandywine Construction and Management Inc. since 1994. In addition to Dr. Cohen’s extensive business experience, he is also an accomplished economic historian and Classics scholar and currently serves as an adjunct Professor of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Cohen received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and then went on to earn his doctorate from Princeton University, where he studied ancient Greek law and economics. He has written three books and countless articles on Athenian society and economy. His most recent work is Athenian Prostitution: The Business of Sex and he is presently preparing his manuscript, Roman Economy and Society: Slaves’ Perspective, for publication.
Betsy Z. Cohen is the founder of The Bancorp, where she served as the Chief Executive Officer from 1999 through 2014. She is a creator of financial businesses with over 30 years of experience in banking, real estate, and financial law, as well as real estate lending, investing, and development. Mrs. Cohen was the second female law professor on the east coast, teaching antitrust law and government regulation of business at Rutgers University Law School. She co-founded a Philadelphia law firm specializing in complex real estate and financial issues. In 1974, Mrs. Cohen founded Jefferson Bank in Pennsylvania, where she served continuously as Chairman and CEO as well as Chairman and CEO of its holding company, Jeffbanks, Inc., the largest financial institution in Pennsylvania. In 1999, she founded The Bancorp, an FDIC-insured virtual bank providing financial services to small and mid-size businesses and their principals. The Bancorp became a market leader, distinguished itself throughout its target Philadelphia-Wilmington market due to its innovative community bank Philadelphia Private Bank operations and its private-label affinity group programs for organizations and institutions, including merchant card servicing. Mrs. Cohen is the recipient of numerous awards; among them, she was named in 1997 as one of the 50 Leading Female Entrepreneurs of the World by the National Foundation for Women Business Owners, ranked in several years among the 25 Outstanding Women Bankers, and in 2009 named by U.S. Banker as one of 25 Women to Watch. Mrs. Cohen has been affiliated with many corporate and non-profit boards, having previously served as a director of Aetna Inc. and CardConnect, Chairman of Fintech Acquisition Corp. II. She currently serves as Chairman of Fintech Acquisition Corp. III, Vice Chairman, Executive Committee member and Secretary of Asia Society, Founding Member of the Asia Society Policy Institute, trustee of The Brookings Institute, Honorary Trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Treasurer, Managing Director, and Finance Committee member of The Metropolitan Opera, and Trustee Emeritus of Bryn Mawr College. Mrs. Cohen is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Jonathan Z. Cohen is currently the Chairman at Seal Rock Partners and serves in managerial positions at various organizations. Since August 2018, he has also served as Chairman at Falcon Minerals Corporation. He is the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Atlas Energy, L.P. and has served as a Board Member for Atlas and its related companies since 2000. He co-founded Atlas Pipeline Partners, LP, a midstream energy company that was sold to Targa Resources, Inc. in 2015, and Atlas Energy Inc., an exploration and production company that was sold to Chevron Corporation in 2011. Jonathan was previously Chief Executive Officer of Resource America, Inc., an asset manager investing in real estate, financial services, and credit until its sale to C-III Capital Partners. Jonathan is a trustee of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens and a Director of Lincoln Center Theatre, and Trustee of Arete Foundation, a private family foundation.
